Bangkok Bug

Bangkok is het dus geworden. De zuid-west moesson was al volop aan het waaien toen we in Phuket belandden. Sterke wind, regen en hoge temperaturen met hoge luchtvochtigheid speelden ons parten. We besloten om direct naar Bangkok te reizen in de hoop dat het daar iets beter zou zijn.

Bangkok is (we waren er al voor gewaarschuwd) er overweldigend: druk, uitlaatgassen en mooi. Maar ook hier was de luchtvochtigheid en hitte iets te veel voor m.n. Roald. De heftige zonnebrand na dat ene uurtje in de zon in Phuket maakte het geheel niet veel draaglijker. Dit was op dag 1 en 2.

Dag 3 ging stukken beter: het was wat koeler, we namen eens een taxi naar waar we toe wilden ipv lopen (airco) en zagen een paar prachtige monumenten. Erg indrukwekkend. Als alles rond is met het fotoalbum zullen we wat plaatjes tonen. We namen weer eens een lekker maaltje van zo'n karretje langs de weg dat voedsel vers bereidde en liepen weer verder tot... Katrina acute diarree kreeg en daarbij ook nog de hele avond mocht overgeven met heftige en zeer pijnlijke krampen. Nu heeft ze ook nog lichte koorts. Katrina noemt het liefkozend de 'Bangkok bug'. Typisch geval van voedselvergiftiging als ik het zo lees op diverse sites.

We kijken het nog een dagje aan en zien dan hoe het gaat. Het lijkt nu al wel beter te gaan. Als ze weer een beetje aangesterkt is, gaan we langzaam richting Noord-Thailand. Het plan is om richting Chiang Mai te gaan, daar wat rond te trekken en dan richting Indonesie te gaan. Sneller dan gepland, mede door het 'slechte' weer op de eilanden. Dit is niet de juiste tijd van het jaar daarvoor! :-(
